AP Courses: "University-Level Courses"
Özel Ege High School became the third school in Türkiye and the first in İzmir to join the College Board—the organization responsible for American university entrance examinations—during the 2013–2014 academic year. That same year, the school was integrated into the Advanced Placement (AP) Program organized by the College Board for high school students.
The AP Program is an educational program consisting of university-level courses and exams designed for high school students aiming for academic excellence. Through this program, high school students acquire university-level knowledge and skills.
Furthermore, with their AP exam scores, students gain the opportunity to earn university course credits while still in high school at select domestic universities as well as numerous universities across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Outside the US, AP exam results are recognized during admissions processes by nearly 60 universities worldwide. Students can take exams in any of the 38 different areas offered by the College Board according to the department they wish to study in higher education.
As Özel Ege High School, we offer 23 undergraduate-level AP courses to our high school students as of the 2021–2022 academic year. Since these courses are approved by the Ministry of National Education Board of Education and Discipline (MEB Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu) and incorporated into Özel Ege High School's official curriculum, they appear on our students' report cards and transcripts. Additionally, as Özel Ege High School is an official AP and SAT exam center, our students have the right to take their AP and SAT exams right at our campus.
In AP exams evaluated on a 5-point scale, the passing criteria is scoring 3 or above:
• 3 = Qualified
• 4 = Well Qualified
• 5 = Extremely Well Qualified
Students who score a 5 gain a significant competitive advantage in university admissions processes.
Özel Ege High School has been one of the prominent institutions delivering AP courses across various fields since becoming a College Board member in the 2013–2014 academic year. Almost all of our students who have participated in AP exams have achieved scores of 3 and above.
