Foreign Language Education
Our students begin their English education starting from kindergarten with the SMART Foreign Language Program. Taking individual differences into account, the program supports not only language skills but also 21st-century skills such as inquiry, research, problem-solving, taking responsibility, and leadership. English is presented through an interdisciplinary approach integrated with Mathematics, Science, Visual Arts, and Music lessons. In this way, students find the opportunity to use the language effectively in different fields.
Targeted English Level at Primary School Level
By the end of primary school, our students are targeted to reach the A2 level according to CEFR criteria. To support this process, events such as A Story A Minute, Poster Session, Puppet Show, English Musical, Language Day, and Show and Tell are organized throughout the year. These events allow students to use the language creatively and confidently.
Our students achieve success above the average of Türkiye in the Cambridge Young Learners and TOEFL Primary exams they take each year.
Furthermore, starting from the 1st grade, our students find opportunities to use English at an international level, get to know different cultures, and develop global citizenship awareness through eTwinning projects.
"SMART" aims to raise its students as foreign language proficient and culturally sensitive individuals who will have a voice not only in today's world but also in the world of tomorrow.
Our 4th-grade students participate in TOEFL Primary exams, and our 8th-grade students participate in TOEFL Junior exams, documenting their progress with internationally recognized certificates.
Second Foreign Language: German-French
With the foreign language education they receive starting from kindergarten, our students achieve learning outcomes tailored to their individual differences on the basis of the theory of multiple intelligences. Through game-based and visually rich teaching methods, they learn the language at an early age in an enjoyable and lasting manner.
Our students, who acquire self-expression skills in primary school, reach a level where they can obtain internationally valid A1 and A2 language certificates starting from the 5th grade with German and French offered as a second foreign language in middle school.
Recognizing their own culture and knowing their values, our students develop multicultural awareness, tolerance, and an understanding of global citizenship by discovering different cultures through the languages they learn.
