Founded in 1987 as Özel Anayurt Lisesi, renamed Özel Ege Lisesi in 1988. 

Owned by İzmir Eğitim Sağlık Sanayi Yatırım A.Ş., it operates as a K-12 institution with no ties to any domestic or foreign foundations or NGOs. 

The school is managed by individuals loyal to the founding philosophy of the Republic. Students are educated in an environment free from political influence. 

Recognised as a School of Science and Leadership, Özel Ege raises transformative leaders who aim to elevate their communities and country. 

Since its early years, the school has embraced free thinking, rejected prejudice, and opposed all forms of discrimination. 

Its culture emphasises hard work, patience, humility, ethical living, and resistance to shallow popular culture.
