Guidance & Psychological Counseling
Özel Ege Schools Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department prepares a comprehensive developmental and preventive guidance-based program from kindergarten onwards, centering on our students' individual differences and developmental period characteristics. Through the guidance activities structured in line with this approach, the unit aims to equip students with the foundational life skills necessary to know themselves in the best possible way and to reveal their strengths, such as decision-making, problem-solving, creative thinking, critical thinking, effective interpersonal communication, self-awareness, empathy, and emotional awareness. While conducting our activities, we adopt a solution-focused approach to guide our students from kindergarten in finding solution pathways for difficulties they may encounter during their developmental process. While carrying out this entire process through the collaboration of the classroom teacher, family, and guidance counselor, the student is addressed through a holistic perspective.
Individual Introductory Meetings
The most beneficial approach to our students is to know them in the best possible way. Based on this thought, individual introductory meetings are held with both our students and parents at the beginning of the academic year. These meetings enable us to acquire information regarding our students' social-emotional, cognitive, language, and motor development areas, allow families to share their observations, and strengthen school-family cooperation. The introductory meetings are not merely a process of gathering information; they also aim to make our students' strengths visible and create a roadmap for areas that require support. In line with this, meetings conducted on the principle of confidentiality contribute to our students making a healthy start to their school life.
Orientation Activities
The school adjustment process is a critical period for children's social-emotional development. For this reason, an orientation program is implemented in our school at the beginning of the academic year. The activities are planned to support our students in exploring their new environment with a sense of security, establishing healthy relationships with their teachers and peers, and gradually adapting to school routines.
Developmental Monitoring
Our students' development is monitored in detail across all sub-fields of development through individual meetings, group work, classroom guidance activities, and in-class observations. In addition to observations, developmental inventories are applied during this process; thus, our students' strengths and areas requiring support are shared with the classroom teacher and parents.
School Readiness Activities
Individual activities are planned with the classroom teacher for areas where our students require support. In the transition process to primary school, our students' readiness levels are of great importance. School readiness activities covering cognitive, social-emotional, language, motor, and self-care skills are carried out in our school. In this process, each student's strengths and areas needing support are determined using developmental inventories and observation forms.
Parent Communication
School-family cooperation is a fundamental element in a child's development during the preschool period. To strengthen this collaboration, the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department maintains regular and systematic communication with parents. Monthly parent newsletters provide information regarding our students' developmental processes, classroom activities, and guidance work. Furthermore, parents' observations are incorporated into the guidance process through individual meetings. Confidentiality and ethical principles are observed throughout this process, and communication is conducted transparently and based on trust. Our goal is to provide a developmental environment that supports each student's potential in the best way through effective collaboration established with our parents.
