Guidance & Counseling
At the core of our guidance approach lies a comprehensive developmental and preventive guidance-based program that centers on our students' individual differences and developmental period characteristics. Guidance activities carried out in line with this approach aim to equip our students with the foundational life skills necessary for individuals to know themselves in the best possible way and to bring out their strengths, such as decision-making, problem-solving, creative thinking, critical thinking, effective interpersonal communication, self-awareness, empathy, and emotional awareness. By adopting a solution-focused approach, we guide our students in discovering solution pathways for difficulties they may encounter during their developmental processes. We carry out this entire process through the collaboration of the classroom teacher, family, and guidance counselor.
Individual Introductory Meetings
Believing that the most beneficial approach to our students stems from knowing them in the best way, we conduct individual introductory meetings with both our students and parents at the beginning of the academic year. During the meetings with our students, we use the "Student Recognition Form," and with our parents, we use the "Parent Interview Form" to gather information regarding our students' personal, social, and emotional developmental characteristics. In this way, we aim to get to know our students and parents in the most thorough manner.
Orientation Activities
Following the adaptation activities conducted for newly starting classes and students who have newly joined us, we carry out individual studies with students who experience difficulties in adjusting to school.
We monitor our students' progress in detail across all sub-fields of development through individual meetings, group sessions, classroom guidance activities, and classroom observations. By communicating with classroom teachers and parents, we share insights regarding our students' developmental processes.
School Readiness Activities
In order to get to know students who will join us during the primary school period and to obtain information about their developmental levels, we administer the "School Readiness Assessment Form," which is prepared to suit each age level. By evaluating the observations and interview results made during this application, we accurately determine their readiness levels across different sub-fields of development.
Parent Communication
Communication with our parents is among the matters we consider most essential. We guide parents to actively participate in the process by holding both face-to-face and remote meetings. In alignment with comprehensive developmental and preventive guidance—rather than focusing solely on problems—we also conduct process observation and guidance meetings. At the end of each month, we share newsletters prepared according to identified needs with our parents.
Parents' Academy (Anne Baba Okulu)
Every year, we regularly bring together experts in their respective fields with our parents. Topics such as communication, developmental characteristics, thinking skills, and boundaries form the main framework of this program. Here, we select topics by taking into account the essential needs of family members.
