Libraries are the most essential memory of schools. A school library is not only a place within the campus but an integral part of contemporary education—introducing students to information and teaching them skills in analysis and critical thinking. 

 

In addition to being a school library, the Özel Ege Library also functions as a research library. Its primary mission is to provide information accurately and effectively to students, teachers, parents, and staff—future global citizens and leaders. 

As of 22.08.2025, our library contains 85,088 printed materials. 
 

Library Rules 

General Rules 

• Library orientation is conducted for students at the beginning of each academic year.   

• Students must reserve study rooms, and teachers must reserve the library for class sessions.   

• Library members may borrow all printed materials except encyclopedias, magazines, dictionaries, and CDs for 28 days and may request extensions.   

• Users may borrow up to three books at a time, provided they are from different categories.   

• Borrowing ends two weeks before the academic year ends. All materials must be returned by year-end.   

• Users may make photocopies or print materials using their smart cards.   

• Materials must not be reshelved by users; they should be left on tables after use.   

• No food or beverages are allowed in the library.   

• Loud talking and mobile phone use are prohibited.   

• During Library Week, the student who reads the most books receives a reading award.   

• Newly arrived books are displayed in exhibition cabinets. 

 

Membership 

• The Özel Ege Library is open to students, teachers, parents, staff, and the public. School employees, students, and retired teachers are natural members and may borrow books free of charge.   

• All users may visit the library and access on-site materials. Borrowing privileges require membership.   

• Membership procedures can be completed through the Library Unit. 

The library hosts 85,088 printed and non-printed materials in various languages, 25% of which are in foreign languages. It offers study rooms, play rooms, internet-connected computers, documentation services, and an open-shelf system. Printed materials are regularly updated based on publication dates.

 

Borrowing 

Users are provided with a due date for borrowed books. If materials are not returned or renewed on time, a daily late fee is applied to protect the borrowing rights of other users. If the delay exceeds 30 days, a penalty equal to three times the current market value of the book is charged.
